THE BRIEF

With a beautifully presented home and a keen eye for design, our Wall Heath client wanted a garden that matched the quality and character of their property. The space was a blank canvas, but their ambition was clear: “Go big or go home.”

At the heart of the brief was a bespoke pergola—something individual, with a design they hadn’t seen elsewhere. A striking water feature, privacy screening and a luxury feel were also essential, bringing together statement features with comfortable spaces to relax and entertain.

The aim was to create a garden that felt like a natural extension of the home, while adding lasting appeal and value to the property.

THE DESIGN

We developed a contemporary garden design to complement our client’s Wall Heath home, bringing together a bespoke pergola, statement water feature and timber privacy screening. Distinct dining and seating areas frame the central lawn, with planting softening the clean lines and adding texture.

The pergola was a focal point of the design, pairing a bold, dark frame with timber detailing. Repeated materials and finishes connect it with the surrounding garden, creating a cohesive space with the luxury feel our client wanted.

Our 3D renders brought the proposals to life, showing the layout from above and from key viewpoints around the garden. This allowed the client to visualise the proportions, materials and relationship between each feature before construction began.

THE BUILD

We built the bespoke timber pergola on site, constructing it to suit the garden’s layout and give the dining area its own distinctive character. Its proportions and detailing were central to achieving the bold, contemporary finish our client wanted.

The pond was constructed from blockwork and tanked to create a watertight structure, with an integrated blade water feature bringing movement and sound into the garden. Split-face cladding added texture, contrasting with the clean lines of the surrounding landscaping.

THE REVIEW

5 star review

“Proterior (Shane) made our dream garden a reality, and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Shane listened to all of our ideas (however crazy they seemed!) advised us, guided us, provided us with options and alterations that we had never even thought of, to help us arrive at our dream garden design.

Nothing was too much trouble and we really felt like he was as invested in the project as we were. Shane was also always very upfront about cost, which was a great help when planning a renovation of this scale.

Every aspect of the project was completed to an excellent standard and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”
